Unfortunately on the evening that the 1 week photos were taken Daisy suddenly became seriously ill. I rushed her to the emergency vet and within 3 hours she had to be put to sleep having suffered from a stroke or blood clot to her brain.
The next day Margaret Horner (owner of Ch. Nishalka Khepri) stepped in and took Daisy’s kittens to one of her girls, Squeaky (Ch. Elbereth My Theodosia), who had kittens of her own at the point of being weaned. Squeaky accepted Daisy’s kittens and are now all doing well. I will be forever grateful for what Maggie/Jim and Squeaky have done.

Kittens Homecoming
At 4 ½ weeks old Daisy’s kittens returned home. Thanks to Maggie doing a good job weaning them they were all eating solids and lapping kitten milk.
I kept the kittens in my bedroom for a few days to let them settle in before introducing them to the adults Penny and Eva.

Kittens playtime
When I brought the kittens downstairs Eva totally ignored them but Penny continually followed them around growling and hissing but never attempting to hurt them.
This went on for two full days but on the third, little Topaz, because of his inquisitive nature finally won Penny over. While Penny was making all the noise he would sit in front of her wondering what all the fuss was about. Then for some reason Penny started licking Topaz’s head which turned into a full scale ‘Body wash’. Within half an hour all four kittens were scrambling around Penny to get a good cleaning.
Although Penny has never had kittens of her own she has taken up the role of ‘Full time’ Mum No. 3, she washes them, allows them to try and suckle, curls up in bed with them and constantly watching their every move.

Penny, like a natural Mum isn't as possesive with the kittens now. She joins in with their games, gives them an occasional wash and keeps an eye on them and their antics. Thanks to Squeaky and Penny the kittens are not showing any signs of unusual behaviour resulting from their extaordinary up-bringing. They are playful, full of mischief and into everything. A little bundle of lovable little rascals.
